Ari Bruening is the Chief Operating Officer for the not-for-profit Envision Utah, which engages people to create and sustain communities that are beautiful, prosperous, healthy, and neighborly. He is an AICP certified planner and an attorney, as well as a published writer. He lives in Salt Lake City, Utah with his family and an overweight dog.
Education
Ari received a B.A. summa cum laude in philosophy from Brigham Young University, where he was the graduation speaker, and a J.D. magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was an editor for the Harvard Law Review. He earned the highest score possible on both the ACT and the LSAT.
Publications
Ari is the co-author of Sweet Feet: Samantha Gordon's Winning Season. He has also published numerous articles relating to planning and zoning, theology, and history.
Projects
Ari has extensive experience in visioning and implementation efforts for regions and large-scale projects. At Envision Utah, he helped lead the Your Utah, Your Future statewide vision that engaged 52,845 Utahns to tackle eleven different topics. Prior to joining Envision Utah, he managed visioning and entitlement projects for the San Diego region; Laie, Hawaii; Daybreak and the 93,000-acre Kennecott Land Company project in Salt Lake County; the 175,000-acre Superstition Vistas Arizona state trust land parcel; and the 300,000-acre Deseret Ranches of Florida landholding near the Orlando International Airport.
